We are in the midst of a global revolution. Dramatic, systemic changes in the financial, social and political worlds are impacting every institution and aspect of civilized society. Sports leagues have not been immune. Thesis is under assault by and giving way to antithesis, and we are all peering blindly into the future, trying to get a glimpse of the coming synthesis. This is your chance, your arena to be a basketball revolutionary and help force the spring; to dash into tomorrow and return to share with us the shape of what’s to come. This is your chance to play: Lockout R/Evolution.

What if all this change is leading to a new league, what should/will it look like? Lending new meaning to the term ‘fantasy league,’ use this forum to:

  • Outline your steps to creating a new players basketball association, including a new logo, new infrastructure, new team names, new draft, etc.
  • Keep the things the NBA did well, drop the things they didn’t.
  • Decide how to pay players (a percentage of team television, gate, and merchandising receipts based on a formula derived from their popularity [how many people they put in the seats], their stats, and their number of years in the league?).
  • Decide what to do about the pensions and health insurance the players would be leaving behind.
  • Decide what to do with team names (whether to keep the locality name of the teams, but change the team names to that of its’ most recognizable player. e.g. The Los Angeles Kobes, The Los Angeles Blakes, The New York Amares, etc?).
  • Decide what a new arena pricing structure would look like.

You’re the commissioner, the owners, and the players all rolled into one. Start the R/Evolution!
